Resident Handbook, page 48.
Educational programs have been established for those eligible residents who wish to attend. Classes are conducted by our Program staff, volunteer teachers, and instructors from the community. Those residents who wish to attend High School Equivalency (HSE), Adult Basic Education (ABE), or need a Literacy Tutor must submit a request to the Case Manager for information pertaining to eligibility. Sign-up sheets for classes to be offered to residents will be placed in the housing units and picked up by program staff prior to the beginning of the classes. High School Equivalency Program The General Educational Development Program is conducted for those residents interested in obtaining their HSE. This program will provide instructional programs for writing, English/grammar and mathematics. Testing is done on site for HSE. Adult Basic Education Program This program provides individualized tutoring for residents who need individual help in reading, writing and mathematics. Literacy Tutors (Individualized Study Programs) This program is conducted for those who cannot read or who read at a very low level. It will provide reading instruction with cassette tapes and one-on-one instruction.
