Resident Handbook, page 40.
You will be offered a flu and COVID vaccine, while you are in the facility. You are strongly encouraged to accept the vaccine, as it is an important way to reduce the risk of getting sick when you are with so many other people. If you have not yet been asked to take the vaccine or changed your mind and want to request it now, please submit a Sick Call Request. COVID-19 became widespread in early 2020, and the facility has created several ways to help prevent the spread of the infection in the facility. It is critical that everyone follows the instructions to keep yourself healthy. You were provided a mask when you were admitted to the facility. Masks are to be worn at all times you are outside your cell; these must be placed over your mouth and nose to be effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19. Wash your hands before and after every activity, such as meals, recreation, legal visits, health or court appointments, commissary deliveries, etc. When you are in the day room or around other residents, stay six feet apart from each other as recommended by the CDC. Everyone admitted to the facility proceeds through a quarantine process, based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other industry guidelines, to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 to others. During this process, you will have limited movement through the facility and housing unit, and you will be tested for COVID-19 at least twice before being placed in a general housing unit. If you decline to test for COVID-19, you will be placed in medical isolation for the duration of the quarantine period so that other residents are not at risk. All health care services are still available to you during the quarantine process, but most will be conducted at your cell. Additional information about COVID-19 is available during your orientation. We encourage you to communicate to your family during this time, and alert the Medical team if you start to feel ill.
