Resident Handbook, page 5.
Indirect supervision housing consists of high security cells and does not give residents the same freedom of movement as direct supervision. Indirect supervision housing consists of three (3) housing units divided into six (6) pods, each containing eight (8) single cells. Each cell contains steel security doors, metal bunks and a steel sink/toilet. Typical residents confined within indirect supervision are: Pre-Classification/Overflow: Housing for residents due to overcrowding, and to afford staff the opportunity to assess the resident's behavior, incorporating some concepts of direct supervision such as dayroom activities, recreation, phones, televisions and library privileges. Administrative Segregation: Housing for Writs, protective custody residents, and residents whose behavior is not conducive to Direct Supervision housing. These residents will be afforded some direct supervision privileges as dictated by their behavior. Administrative Segregation Pending a Hearing: Housing for residents who are accused of a major rule violation, repeated violation of institutional rules, and/or disruptive behavior. These residents are separated from general population and are awaiting a hearing. Disciplinary Segregation (Lockdown Residents): Housing for residents, who are separated from the general population due to violation of a major rule, repeated violation of institutional rules, and/or disruptive behavior. Assignment to Disciplinary Segregation will result in the loss of most or all privileges. These residents will still be allowed legal visits and the purchase of hygiene items from the commissary.
