Resident Handbook, page 41.
1. The Medical team is in the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 2. The doctors in this facility become your doctors while you are here. It is important that you tell the doctors and nurses about your health conditions, medications, and history so they can provide the right services. 3. If you used a prescription medication before entering the facility, the Medical team will verify the information with your pharmacy and determine if you will continue on that specific medication or use a different one. 4. If you have recently used drugs other than with a prescription, it is important that you tell the Medical team. This information will not be used in any way to affect your legal proceedings, but it can help save your life if you have a health emergency while you are here. 5. If you wear glasses but did not have them with you when you were brought in, check with the Case Manager to see if a family member or friend can bring them to the facility. Only plastic frames are allowed. 6. It is important that you tell the Medical team about any health condition or other needs you forgot during the intake assessment, so they can plan for your health care appropriately. Please inform a nurse of any new tattoos, open sores, or rashes you have, or if you remember any other information about your health conditions now or in the past. 7. We take any threats of suicide and/or violence seriously. If you have thoughts of harming yourself or someone else, tell an officer or nurse you need help. If you know someone else is thinking of suicide or violence, please report it immediately. 8. Please cooperate with hand washing and other cleaning instructions, as it is important to prevent the spread of infections and diseases in the facility. 9. You will receive a health assessment if you remain the facility for one year; if you have not been scheduled for the visit, please tell the nurse.
